W.Va. schools to take part in Digital Learning Day

Posted:

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Students and teachers across West Virginia will take part in Digital Learning Day, sharing new techniques and stressing the importance of technology education.

Last year nearly 2 million students across the country participated.

On Wednesday students and teachers will have access to a digital town hall, live-streamed into classrooms.

Teachers are encouraged to personalize digital education. A website, www.digitallearningday.org , gives dozens of examples of digital learning curricula that teachers can incorporate into their lesson plans.

Digital Learning Day was inspired in part by Mountainview Elementary in Morgantown, which started a No Paper, No Pencil Challenge to get students accustomed to working with new technology.

The organizing alliance for Digital Learning Day is led by former West Virginia Gov. Bob Wise.
