UPDATE: VIVIAN (WVVA) - An elderly woman was flown to Charleston in critical condition following Tuesday evening's three-car crash on Route 52 in McDowell County.
Sheriff Martin West tells WVVA News the elderly woman's car apparently crossed the center line, swiping one vehicle and hitting another head-on.
A total of five individuals were transported to Welch Community Hospital. Four were treated and released, while the elderly woman was airlifted to CAMC in critical condition.
West said charges are pending.

Three vehicles were involved in a crash near Kimball, WV in McDowell County. It happened shortly after 7pm. Multiple people suffered injuries. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
Photographer Timothy Hairston says Route 52 was shut down in both directions. WVVA is attempting to gather more information.
