LEWISBURG, W. Va (WVVA)-- A Lewisburg man has been arrested after leading police on an early-morning chase.

It happened near Sunset Circle in Lewisburg early Thursday morning.

Court documents say police responded to a call about a suspicious male walking near houses and cars. The man was later identified as Alexander Nathaniel Shelton (pictured at left.)

When police arrived on the scene, Shelton took off running. Officers chased him through the neighborhood, then called for a K-9 unit to assist.

Shelton was found hiding on Dandelion Drive in an out-building under some patio furniture cushions, police said Thursday. Shelton was taken into custody.

He had stolen a laptop and a bank card and confessed to police he intended to sell or trade them for pills.

Shelton posted $5000 bond. He was recently also arrested and charged with 12 total counts of forgery and uttering for writing bad checks.
