WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va (WVVA)-- Nearly 1200 employees at The Greenbrier, represented by 8 unions, will begin a new contract on February 1, 2013.
According to Peter Bostic with Workers United Local 843, union employees voted 549 to 37 for the new contract, meaning it passed by 94%.
Bostic said no outstanding changes were proposed in the new contract.
If it had not been approved, the bargaining committee would have either re-negotiated the terms or called for a strike.
The new contract will last for 5 years. The previous contract was for 4.
This is the first full contract the union workers will serve under The Greenbrier's new owner, Jim Justice.
