BLUEFIELD, VA (WVVA)--- Usually off-seasons at golf courses mean a lot of time off for management and employees. That has not been the case at the new "Fincastle on the Mountain" formally Fincastle Country Club.
Bluefield , Virginia native Rick Compton who has been a member for 25 years is now calling the shots at restaurant and golf course.
"I have got to do several things so far that I thought needed to be done," says Compton
"We are well on our way to getting to where we need to go."
New carpet, paint, and even a new name is welcoming locals back. And for some a chance to see the place for the first time.
Since opening last week, "Fincastle on the Mountain" is allowing non-members to come eat and play when the weather permits. Something that Fincastle has been against for a long time.
"Perception is everything. You know growing up and coming over and bringing people over. You really did feel sometimes that you were not welcome, people kind of looking at you wondering what you were doing here. And we need to get the perception changed that you are welcome."
