'Cafe' to help area entrepreneurs

Posted:

LEWISBURG (WVVA) - Small businesses in the area have a chance to get up off the ground.

Through a group called Vision Shared, an "Entrepreneurs' Cafe" competition will be held in the Greenbrier Valley.

Community members are invited to a dinner in February, and participants will pitch their business plan there.

A ticket to dinner gets you a vote for your favorite business plan.

Anyone with an idea for a small business, or even who wants their own existing business to grow, can sign up to compete.

The winner receives at least five-hundred dollars to start working on making their dreams a reality.

Organizer Katie Ickes says she hopes this effort will help combat the low rate of entrepreneurism in West Virginia.

Applications are available online at greenbrierwvchamber.org until next Monday.
