Driver, student taken to hospital after bus rear-ended

WOLF PEN (WVVA) - A school bus accident sends two people to the hospital, and one of them is a student.

It happened Wednesday on Route 16 near Wolf Pen in Wyoming County.

Sgt. Mike Johnson of the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office says while a Wyoming County school bus was stopped to pick up a student, a vehicle rear-ended it.

That car was a 2008 Toyota driven by Roger Compton from Pineville. Johnson said the force pushed the car under the bus.

Compton was taken to Welch Emergency Hospital, his condition is unknown at this time.

One female student, who was boarding the bus at the time of the accident, was also sent to the hospital "for precautionary measures" said Johnson. Her condition is also unknown. No one else was injured in the incident.

"The bus sustained minor damage," said Johnson.

The accident is under investigation.
