Greenbrier Co. sheriff office welcomes new chief deputy

LEWISBURG, W. Va (WVVA)-- You may see a new face in Greenbrier County law enforcement.

Bruce Sloan has been appointed as Chief Deputy for the Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department.

Monday was his first day on the job.

He previously worked at The Greenbrier as Head of Security. Before that, he worked with the West Virginia State Police and retired in August 2010 as Deputy Superintendent.

"It was time to retire," said Sloan, "but now I am ready to get back into law enforcement."

Sloan said he is excited to be on board, and looks forward to this new chapter in his life.

"I am excited about it," he said. "A lot of the members of the sheriff's department, I've known for years, and actually worked with many of them... I look forward to working with them. I think it will be good for the county and for the department."
