RONCEVERTE (WVVA) - Police officers in Ronceverte tased a man who approached them wielding a machete Monday night.
Joseph Lee Morgan, 32 of Ronceverte was arrested and charged with obstructing police, brandishing a deadly weapon and assault on police after the incident that occurred on Blake Avenue.
Officers were dispatched to Blake Ave. around 9:22 p.m. for a male subject that was unstable.
According to a news release, police arrived and found Morgan with a machete knife in hand.
After a brief stand off with police and being advised by police a number of times to put the machete knife down, police say Morgan proceeded to come at the officers at which time he was tased.
Morgan is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment before Greenbrier County Magistrate.
The investigating officer is Asst. Chief E. D. Vaught and assisting was Patrolman First Class E. S. Bishop.
