Police: Greenbrier Co. man admits to shoplifting scheme

ALDERSON (WVVA) - Police in Greenbrier County say a man has admitted to shoplifting from a local Walmart and asking others to return the stolen goods for gift cards.

Charles Collins of Alderson was arrested and charged with shoplifting last Thursday.

Police say Collins confessed to stealing makeup and a phone case from the Walmart in Lewisburg, then having his girlfriend go back inside and exchange the items for a gift card.

Police say Collins also admitted to executing the scheme three other times.

Collins already has two shoplifting convictions on his record. He is free on $5,000 bond.
