UPDATE: Wyoming Co. man charged in alleged attack on grandparents

PINEVILLE (WVVA) - Authorities have released the name of the man they say attacked his grandparents at their Wyoming County home.

Medwin Jarrell Willard, 33, faces charges of two counts of malicious wounding, three counts of kidnapping, two counts of violent crime against the elderly and one count of grand larceny.

Police say Willard attacked his grandparents at their home in Baileysville, at one point holding them at knifepoint. A juvenile was also inside the home at the time of the attack.

Willard eventually left the scene in his grandparents' truck. He was apprehended a short time later without incident in the Reedy Creek area, approximately 11 miles away.

The grandparents were able to notify police of the attack.

The grandmother was airlifted to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries. The grandfather also suffered undisclosed injuries.

Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Willard is currently being held without bond at Southern Regional Jail.


BAILEYSVILLE (WVVA) - A man has been arrested in Wyoming County and charged with malicious wounding. 

Authorities have told WVVA that two people were injured at a home near the old Baileysville High School.  One had to be airlifted to a hospital.  Deputies say more charges could follow.
