City awaiting word from Food City on next week's meeting

Posted:

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - Bluefield city officials are less than a week away from a meeting that could resolve the issue of Food City not allowing a grocery store to move into the vacant Kroger building.

City officials invited Food City CEO Steve Smith and co-owner of the Bluefield Plaza Tom Lilly to their next meeting on Jan. 8 to address them directly about the store chain allowing a grocery store to move into the building.

The city says they are waiting to see if Smith or Lilly will attend, but they still encourage residents to come and share their comments and concerns on the matter.
