Volunteers sought for eagle survey

Posted:

PIPESTEM (WVVA) - Volunteers are being sought to help with a survey of eagles in West Virginia

The annual eagle survey of the Pipestem area is scheduled for Jan 12.

Pipestem resort state park naturalist Jim Phillips is scheduling volunteers to scan the skies and record eagle sightings over a four-hour period at between six and 12 various sites.

Phillips says the eagle population has grown in recent years.

Last January, 38 people participated and confirmed sightings of 19 bald eagles and an adult golden eagle.

Volunteers must contact Phillips before the Jan. 9 registration deadline at (304) 466-1800.
