BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - Bluefield's city law enforcement will be seeing some changes as the new year approaches.

Longtime Police Chief J.W. Wilson is retiring Thursday after nearly 25 years of service.

Wilson worked his way from patrolman to sergeant, to executive lieutenant, to ultimately becoming chief in 2006.

Wilson say's he'll miss the force and retirement will be an adjustment.

Bluefield City Manager Jim Ferguson is expected to announce the city's interim police chief later today as the city begins its search for a permanent replacement.
