BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - After a messy day Wednesday across the Two Virginias, weather conditions are expected to slight improve today.
A few snow showers will linger mainly in our mountain areas above 2,500 feet. Only minor accumulations are expected. The real story of today's weather is the cold and the wind.

How to check current road conditions
Temperatures today will struggle to make it out of the 30 in many locations, and winds will be very similar to yesterday in speed: 15-25 mph sustained with gusts as high as 40-50 mph.
Travel is still a concern today due to slick conditions on roadways, so if you do travel take it slow and leave lots of space between you and the car in front of you.
We will see a break in the action Friday, and actually could see some sunshine in the morning hours. That will be short-lived however, as clouds make a return Friday afternoon ahead of another storm system for the weekend.
That will bring at first rain and snow showers on Saturday that will turn to all snow by Sunday. Snow totals for this storm do not look significant and will most likely only be a few inches. Next week's forecast is still a bit uncertain, but it looks to be less active than the past week.
