Beckley (WVVA) -- United Methodist Temple in Beckley opened its doors for the community to enjoy their annual Christmas lunch Tuesday afternoon.
The event took 150 volunteers weeks to plan. They were expecting over 300 guests in attendance.
Volunteers say they were happy to pay it forward on Christmas.
"I don't feel like I gave up my Christmas to be here," says the luncheon's coordinator, Lisa Walker. "I feel like this enhanced my Christmas to be here… [My family] rearranged our tradition in order to be here, and hopefully to make this our tradition because I just think, what better gift is there then to be able to help someone else and pass on Jesus Christ."
The event has been going on for more than 10 years. United Methodist encourages anyone interested in volunteering with them in the future to visit them on Templeview Drive in Beckley.
