RAINELLE, W. Va (WVVA)-- The Create a Dream Committee in Rainelle organized a huge Christmas party Thursday.
At the party--150 students and their families. The kids, kindergarten age and up, each received a sack of three Christmas presents to put under the tree.
Rainelle Mayor Andrea Pendleton said the event was to help a community in need. The gifts went to children who may not have received many otherwise.
"It's hard times," she said. "The kids are so excited [about getting these gifts], and we're excited to be able to do this for them."
The gifts come from the Create a Dream Tree for Kids program at The Greenbrier, Toys for Tots, and also other donors throughout the community.
Santa was there, and the kids also got to see a comedy show and eat some snacks before getting their gifts from Santa and the WV State Police and Rainelle Police Department who came to help with the event.
Around fifty volunteers helped wrap, deliver, and finally hand out the presents to the children.
