Concord senior Damien Tunstalle has not had the easiest life. Tunstalle has been through a lot of things most people have never had to deal with. "I just had to grow up fast is what I had to do. Growing up, I knew I was going to have to work if I wanted things in life."
Tunstalle used that attitude and ethic to get himself a spot on Concord's basketball team. This summer, while working three jobs, he would hit the gym and weight room early in the morning to make sure his was on top of his game. And the hard work paid off. Tunstalle is averaging 20 points per game for the 5-1 Mountain Lions. "It was determination. I knew where I wanted to be and I wasn't going to let anybody stop me from getting there," Tunstalle says.
Damien's story is one that has inspired his teammates and coaches. And as he enters to final season of his Concord career, there's one legacy he wants to leave with his team: "I want them to remember how hard I worked and that hard work does pay off. If it's something you want to do, don't let anyone stop you from doing it. Just keep pushing forward."
