BLUEFIELD Va. (WVVA) - Thousands lined streets across the region this weekend as community members showcased their Christmas spirit.
The Bluefield Va. Christmas Parade marched through downtown Saturday. This year's theme was 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.'
The parade was filled with dozens of floats and marchers. A party downtown in which Santa Claus made an appearance followed the parade.
The event also featured carolers and a live nativity.
In Lewisburg, crowds flocked to the city's annual parade Saturday. Everyone from fire departments and local dance groups to school bands helped spread the Christmas cheer.
Many in attendance said the annual parade kicks off the holiday season.
Beckley also held its annual parade Saturday. The theme was '12 Days of Christmas.'
This year's parade was one of the largest in recent years for the city. It featured the usual participants, such as bands and floats, and some unique visitors like dogs and a cheerful Darth Vader.
Bluefield West Virginia holds its Christmas Parade this Saturday, Dec. 8.
