Virginia Tech heading to Russell Athletic Bowl

After a 6-6 season Virginia Tech is heading to the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando.

The Hokies will play Rutgers out of the Big East conference. The Scarlet Knights finished the year 9-3.

This appearance marks the 20th straight season Virginia Tech has earned a bowl bid.

The Hokies are 2-0 against Big East teams in bowl games since 2006, including a 20-7 victory over Cincinnati in the Orange Bowl in 2009. They have won 11-straight over Rutgers.

The game will take place Friday, December 28th from Orlando's Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.
