PINEVILLE (WVVA) - A Wyoming County church collected food Monday for a Thanksgiving dinner to distribute to families in need this holiday season.
Members of Cook Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville distributed boxes with turkey and sides for a Thanksgiving meal. Around 65 boxes were donated.
Workers with the Department of Health and Human Resources were also on hand to deliver the boxes to families who were not able to come to the church for pickup.
Pastor Warren Keith Reed says the boxes will help the families beyond the holiday.
"We put stuff in for Thanksgiving, but we're also adding other items too that will carry them out for this week, maybe next week," Reed said.
The boxes included other items such as cereal and peanut butter and jelly.
