GREEN VALLEY (WVVA)--- In times where local first responders are cutting back on spending, one local fire department is doing the opposite, they went out and bought a brand new truck.
The Green Valley/Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department has purchased a 2013 7400 International Fire Truck that is equipped with 4-wheel drive and an extended cab.
"This is a large truck, everyone calls it the beast," said Chief Dave Thompson of the Green Valley/Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department.
"We are just hoping that it can do what we need it to do for the community."
The 4-wheel drive will be a big asset for the department that has to deal with a lot of back roads in Mercer County.
"We are hoping it is going to be a real advantage to us in the past like I said we had to chain stuff we had to chain part of our trucks, leave other trucks unchained."
