Police ask your help catching alleged thief

LEWISBURG, W. Va (WVVA)-- West Virginia State Police ask for your help catching an alleged trailer thief.

Police said a person who appears to be a white male was caught on surveillance video stealing a box trailer in the parking lot of the Lewisburg Mall.

According to authorities, there was a lock on the tongue of the trailer to prevent theft. But somehow the man in the video is able to attach it to his truck and drive away.

Even more strange, police said, is the time the alleged crime occurred: around 10:30 AM on Sunday.

The trailer belongs to a merchant selling hand-crafted wooden products and is valued at about $4500. It is fourteen feet long and has a bumper sticker on the rear door reading, "I love wood."

The alleged thief was driving what police believe is a white Chevy pick-up with a cap on the back.

If you have seen this trailer or have any information, you are asked to call the West Virginia State Police at 304-647-7600.
