BECKLEY (WVVA) - Authorities in Raleigh County are searching for a suspect in a shooting that left a victim in extremely critical condition.

Police say a 20-year-old was shot in the head on Hartley Avenue in Beckley around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

The victim -- whose name has not been released -- was rushed to a nearby hospital before being transported to Charleston.

The victim was listed in extremely critical condition.

Police say the victim and suspect knew each other and had a prior, ongoing confrontation.

The suspect is only described as a black male wearing a red jacket.
