PRINCETON (WVVA) - A Mercer County man accused of murdering the mother of his young child has turned down a plea deal offered by prosecutors.
Marcus McKinley turned down the deal to plead guilty to first-degree murder with mercy in Judge Aboulhosn's court Thursday.
If the deal would have been accepted, McKinley would have been eligible for parole after 15 years.
McKinley is charged with murder in the May 2011 shooting death of 18-year-old Ayana Patton. Patton was found dead in her Bluefield apartment.
The suspect and victim were parents of a child who was 7 months old at the time of the shooting.
