UPDATE: Veterans celebrated across region

Posted:

WELCH (WVVA) - Residents across the Two Virginias saluted the region's veterans on Monday with parades.

Residents lined streets in Beckley, Princeton, Oceana and Welch to show their appreciation for the area's military men and women -- especially those who've given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

Brig. Gen. David T. Buckalew was honored as the grand marshal of the Welch parade -- the 93rd edition of the annual event.

If you attended a parade, WVVA.com wants to see your photos. You can share them by emailing to news@wvva.com.

Tazewell held its inaugural Veterans Day Parade on Sunday. In Richlands, a parade was held on Saturday.

In addition to the parades, both Concord University and Bluefield State College held special Veterans Day events Monday morning.

Bluefield College honored veterans in attendance at Saturday's football game at Mitchell Stadium.
