RAINELLE, W. Va (WVVA)-- Police say 22-year-old Derrick Leon Wood of Hinton was arrested Friday for stealing prescription medicine from a drug store.
According to police, Wood took a legitimate prescription to a Rite Aid in Rainelle to be filled. The prescription was for 150 30-milligram oxycodone pills.
To pay for the medicine, he attempted to use a check. As the person behind the counter processed the check, which bounced, Rainelle police say Wood grabbed the bag and ran out of the store.
Hinton police stopped him as he was returning home.
Wood is charged with fraud, and his bond was set for $10,000 but later dropped down to $5,000. Wood did post bond the same day.
