BECKLEY (WVVA) - A man accused of impersonating a police officer in an attempt to take cash donations is in custody in Raleigh County.
Beckley Police say John Franklin Sealy, 39, of Memphis had been contacting local businesses and residents, saying he was a city police officer. He would then allegedly try to arrange to pick up a cash donation.
Sealy was arrested Monday on charges of impersonating a police officer, attempting fraudulent schemes and attempting to obtain money under false pretenses.
Beckley Police were able to intervene in the incidents.
