Ambulance overturns in three-vehicle crash

CRAB ORCHARD (WVVA) - An ambulance overturned in Raleigh County Wednesday after being struck by another vehicle.

According to a news release from the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department, the Jan Care ambulance was traveling north on Robert C. Byrd Drive in Crab Orchard when it was struck in the driver's side by a vehicle turning onto Byrd Drive at the Clayton Street intersection.

The impact forced the ambulance off the road where it struck a ditch and embankment and overturned onto the driver's side.

The vehicle that struck the ambulance then spun into southbound traffic and hit an oncoming pickup truck.

Charges may be pending. The crash remains under investigation by Sgt. T.L. Miles.

Jan Care, Best Ambulance, Sophia City and Area Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
