LEWISBURG, W. Va (WVVA)-- Greenbrier County bears the storm, dealing with many power outages.
Greenbrier County's Emergency Management Agency said two shelters are open, one at the Rainelle Fire Department and one at the Rhema Church in Fairlea. They said they assessed the need, and determined to open these two at this time.
"Others may open as needed," said director, Al Whitaker.
Local businesses are also feeling the effects of Sandy's blizzard.
The Wild Bean in Lewisburg was one of the only businesses open on that side of town. Typically a hangout for residents, customers were still trickling in around midday.
Coulter Lewis, who works at the coffee shop, told WVVA Tuesday morning may have turned out all right, but there were some challenges in opening the store.
"We couldn't use credit cards or internet, so a lot of people weren't very happy about that," he said, "but so far we're doing all right."
The county courthouse is also open, but only for early voting. The other offices within are closed.
