TAZEWELL (WVVA)-- The Tazewell County Sheriff's Department and the Town of Tazewell teamed up Friday to deliver presentations to kids at Tazewell Elementary School on how to stay safe when they are out trick-or-treating.

Tazewell Police Chief Dewitt Cooper says wearing bright colors, making sure kids are out with their parents, and always observing traffic is very important.

He also urges parents to inspect the candy first to make sure the packaging is still in tact. Chief Cooper says it is sometimes difficult to tell the difference between candy and medicine.
