Bluefield High moving home basketball games to Brushfork Armory

BLUEFIELD, W.Va (WVVA)-- The Bluefield High School basketball teams will have a new home for their games this season. The Beavers will be returning to the Brushfork Armory where they used to play years ago.

The Mercer County Board of Education is investing nearly $85,000 in the gym at the armory. This includes the purchase of a used gym floor, refinishing and painting the floor, 2 new mounted scoreboards, 2 portable basketball goals, and rental of the armory for the season.

Assistant Superintendent Joe Turner says this investment will be cheaper than upgrading the school's gym which is just a few feet short of a regulation gym and holds less people.

The team has been playing at Bluefield State College, but the board says the armory will provide more parking and seating.
