Town of Matoaka receives $80,000 check

MATOAKA (WVVA) - The town of Matoaka has received $80,000 to help prevent future flooding.

The town has been attempting to raise money to remove sediment from a creek in order to reduce flooding.

The Shott Foundation presented the town the check, which will cover the full amount to pay the contractors to do the required work.

The mayor is hoping that reducing flood risks will help local businesses start up and keep running.
