BLUEFIELD, W.Va (WVVA)-- One local elementary school is thinking outside the box to get its students engaged in the classroom.
In some classes at Whitethorn Elementary School in Bluefield, the teachers have traded chairs in for stability balls. The balls allow the kids to bounce and release energy while they are learning. Staff at the school say the balls actually help the kids to focus on their school work.
In addition to improving behavior, the balls also strengthen the core and improve posture.
