UPDATE: Crews respond to machinery fire at Conn-Weld

PRINCETON (WVVA) - Firefighters responded Tuesday morning to reports of a machinery fire at Conn-Weld Industries in Princeton.

East River Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene at approximately 8:30 a.m.

According to a statement from Conn-Weld, employees noticed smoke coming from a dust collector outside the building. The plant was immediately evacuated and emergency crews were contacted, according to the release.

The release says there were no injuries and the situation was contained by the fire department.

Employees were released to return to work after the situation was secured.

The source of the ignition is being investigated. All involved equipment was shut down at the time the news release was issued.

Earlier this year, a fire at the same facility injured three workers. Clarence Worrell and Brad Gillespie were severely injured when a sand blaster exploded and caught fire.

Worrell, 51, died in May at a Huntington hospital from injuries he received in the March 5 fire.
