Former Princeton officer enters plea deal

Posted:

PRINCETON (WVVA) - A former Princeton police officer accused of trying to blackmail a 17-year-old boy for sexual favors has made a deal with prosecutors.

As part of the deal, Christopher Winkler pleaded guilty to one count of solicitation of bribery, which carries a possible prison sentence of 1-10 years.

All other charges were dismissed.

Investigators said Winkler met the male juvenile on March 1, 2011, in the parking lot of a Princeton business -- while on duty -- and offered to reduce an amount of money owed to him in return for sexual favors.

Winkler can never serve as a police officer again. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 10.
