Greenbrier casino tour bus access questioned

Posted:

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia Lottery officials are questioning The Greenbrier resort's practice of giving bus day-tour groups' access to its casino.

Lottery Director John Musgrave tells the Charleston Gazette that the West Virginia Lottery Commission will need to clarify The Greenbrier casino gambling regulations.

The commission plans to discuss the issue at its Oct. 23 meeting.

Legislation that authorized the casino restricted access to overnight hotel guests or members of the resort's residential development. But there is an exception for special events.

Greenbrier President Jeff Kmiec says the bus tour itineraries include a buffet lunch at the hotel. He believes the day trips fall under the exception.
