RONCEVERTE, W. Va (WVVA)-- Churches have a role in fighting the war on drugs, Ray Propps, pastor of the Living Water Family Worship Center in Ronceverte, WV told WVVA on Wednesday.
He asked his congregation to bring in unwanted drugs on Sunday and no questions asked, he would take them to the Greenbrier County courthouse takeback box for disposal.
Pastor Propps said he thinks if other communities' religious leaders got involved like this, they can help take even more drugs off the streets.
"I want to challenge all the pastors," said Propps, "to take them to the drug boxes." He told WVVA this was to make the community a better place.
"We also have elderly people in the congregation," said Propps, "who might be at risk. We need to get these unused drugs out of their houses [for their safety.]"
