PRINCETON (WVVA) - A possible plea deal is in the works for a former Princeton City Police officer accused of trying to bribe a boy for sexual favors.

Judge William Sadler's office has been notified that Christopher Winkler may enter a plea at his next scheduled hearing on Oct. 16.

Winkler's attorney, Bill Flanigan, tells WVVA News discussions with the prosecutor's office continue, but nothing has been finalized.

Winkler allegedly asked the boy for sexual favors while on duty in exchange for reducing an amount of money the boy owed him.

Winkler is accused of telling the boy that if he didn't cooperate he would charge him with a felony.

Winkler quit the police force in March 2011.
