MULLENS, W.Va. (AP) -- Wyoming County authorities say four people have been arrested in the theft of copper cable that cut phone service to about 1,300 customers.

Sheriff Randall Aliff says the four were arrested Thursday after they allegedly tried to sell the stolen copper to a recycling center in Raleigh County.

Aliff identified the suspects as 43-year-old Bobby Ray McKinney, 46-year-old Nancy Tate and 35-year-old Tanya Jenkins, all of Mullens, and 56-year-old James Daniels of Rock View. They're charged with grand larceny, felony destruction of property, and theft resulting in loss of phone service.

The Register-Herald reports it will cost Frontier Communications up to $13,000 to repair the damage.
