MERCER COUNTY (WVVA) -- A teen is killed after being thrown from a vehicle in Mercer County.
The car landed 50 feet down an embankment in Lashmeet.
Police say the Dodge Neon had three passengers inside and was on Reese Harmon Road heading towards Route 10.
The driver attempted to make a right turn just past Acuff Road, but lost control and went up an embankment. The car then rolled over at least once and a teenaged boy was ejected.
The car then crossed the road and traveled along the guardrail for about 15 feet before going over the guardrail and landing 50 feet over an embankment.
The driver and the girl have been taken to Roanoke General Hospital.
The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time. No names have been released.
Police are investigating why the driver lost control, but say speed may be a factor. They also tell WVVA that it is possible the brakes may have failed.
