MULLENS (NEWS RELEASE) – Thieves have stolen about 350 feet of copper cable from Frontier Communications within the city of Mullens, interrupting service to scores of local businesses and residential customers, Frontier General Manager Mike Swatts said.
"Frontier crews are working as quickly as possible to restore service, but the large size and type of cable will result in a very time-consuming repair," Swatts said.
Service restoration may be completed on Saturday.
Customers in other communities also may see problems with their service. Those areas include Basin, Black Eagle, Corinne, Stephenson, Helen, Amigo and Wyco, West Virginia
"This criminal act places the lives of our customers and citizens in jeopardy because they are unable to contact emergency personnel or family members," Swatts said. "In addition, it disrupts commercial activity and creates unnecessary hardships on businesses and their customers.
"We encourage anyone who may have information about this theft of copper cable to contact local law enforcement authorities or call our toll-free hotline," Swatts said.
Frontier's toll-free information hotline is: 1-800-590-6605. Callers may leave information anonymously, and Frontier security staff ensures confidentiality.
