NEWS RELEASE: Volunteers are needed to help people in Greenbrier, Fayette, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Summers, and Wyoming counties to prepare their tax returns at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites. The EITC Southern WV Coalition works with the WV Welfare Reform Coalition and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide free, basic income tax preparation services to community members with low-to-moderate incomes. Trained volunteer tax preparers explain credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and help individuals complete and electronically file their tax returns—all for FREE. Refunds can be deposited directly into a bank account within 7-10 days.
- Volunteer tax preparers receive FREE instruction and all training and certification materials necessary to prepare basic income tax returns. Although this may seem like a long way away, now is the time to sign up.
Volunteers are also needed to help in other ways. We invite you to attend a Volunteer Information and Orientation Meeting scheduled for October 26th, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 228 Ragland Road Beckley, WV (Corner of MountainHeart)
