LEWISBURG (WVVA) - Greenbrier County Sheriff Jim Childers tells WVVA News that no evidence has been taken or no narcotics cases compromised by the "misconduct" of a former employee.

Childers spoke on the situation after WVVA News' report that court documents filed by county prosecutor Patrick Via show a former department employee is suspected of taking controlled substances and cash from the department.

Following is the full statement given to WVVA News via telephone:

"There is nothing, nothing missing out of any evidence locker belonging to the Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department. Nothing missing out of the evidence rooms. Also, this case will not affect anything done out of my narcotics squad. The only case this would have anything to do with is cases that this officer had worked. Because under the misconduct he probably lost a lot of his credibility. I believe people want their officers held to a higher standard, and that's what we are about. The misconduct was right in front of me and I took steps on my end to solve it."
