Fayette County man hospitalized following fight

LOOKOUT (WVVA) - A Fayette County man was transported to the hospital after an altercation along Route 60 in the Lookout area.

The Fayette County 911 Center received reports of the altercation at 9:17 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers found 37-year-old James Woodrow Settle III of Anstead "stumbling around" in the roadway, bleeding profusely from a wound to the head.

Settle was airlifted to Charleston Area Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.

Based on findings in the preliminary investigation, authorities believe the altercation began after Settle sent threatening messages to the alleged perpetrator, then went to the person's home.

It is believed the alleged perpetrator struck Settle in the head and torso multiple times with a steel bar, then called 911 to report the incident.

Investigators have not been able to speak to the victim .

No charges have been filed at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
