Va Tech to honor fallen officer during game

Posted:

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Virginia Tech will honor a campus police officer who was gunned down in December at its game on Saturday.

Police say the football team will carry a flag as they come out of the tunnel on Saturday decorated with No. 152, the badge number for Officer Deriek Crouse.

Crouse was shot to death on campus in December by a part-time Radford University student. Investigators still have not identified a motive for the attack by 22-year-old Ross Truett Ashley, who later shot himself.

Virginia Tech Police say the flag was donated by students from Virginia Western Community College

A photo of Crouse also will be displayed following the marching band performance at halftime.
