BEAVER, W.Va. (AP) -- A lawyer who has sued the state on behalf of women who say they were sexually abused in West Virginia jails says he's filed 11 lawsuits against a Southern Regional Jail guard now behind bars.
Twenty-nine-year-old William Roy Wilson of Beckley was being held in an isolation cell at the Beaver jail on $75,000 bond Friday, charged with having sex with female inmates since May in exchange for cigarettes.
Jail Authority spokeswoman Ashley Bennett says an inmate brought allegations to the authority, and it did an internal investigation before giving the case to State Police investigators.
She couldn't comment on whether similar allegations have been raised against Wilson before, saying authority lawyers weren't available.
But attorney Mike Woelfel says he has nine pending cases against Wilson. Two others were settled.
