Game Benefits Cancer

Posted:

PETERSTOWN (WVVA)--- Although they are rivals on the field, Summers County and Peterstown Middle School football players came together during their game Thursday to benefit three kids battling Leukemia.

3-year-old Brycen Parker of Peterstown, 7-year-old Tanner McCroskey also of Peterstown and 7-year-old Lane Houchins of Summers County all fight the disease.

"Honestly I did not think he was going to be here at this time last year," said Angela Parker, Brycen's mom.

"I thought that it was going to be end."

But it wasn't, and even though her son was paralyzed from the waist down for a period of time, Thursday night she got to see her son walk across the field with the players for the coin toss.

All the money that was raised from the game will be going to treatment centers that Brycen and Lane currently attend in Morgantown and Charleston.
