Volunteers work to improve Bluefield City Park

Posted:

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - The threat of rain Monday didn't stop a group of volunteers from working to improved city park.

Volunteers from Americorps and the City of Bluefield worked to resurface basketball and volleyball courts, as well as rebuild an old shed.

The work was part of a demo project for the Boy Scout Jamboree. Projects like these are meant to act as a 'dress rehearsal' ahead of next year's jamboree, which will be held in Fayette County.

The group has already completed, or will complete similar projects in several southern West Virginia counties.

The jamboree takes place next July. Thousands of scouts are expected to attend.
