ATHENS, W. Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team will prepare for a challenging 2012-13 season by playing exhibition contests at West Virginia University and at Marshall University, head coach Kenny Osborne announced Thursday.
"For us to play both NCAA Division I institutions in the state of West Virginia will be a great experience," Osborne said. "I look at it as a treat and a challenge. Marshall has a new staff and of lot of excitement in Huntington. WVU will be a top-20 team and going into maybe the best women's conference in the Big 12. I know expectations are high in Morgantown."
Concord will travel to Morgantown for its game vs. WVU on Wednesday, Oct. 31. The next night (Nov. 1), The Mountain Lions will take on Marshall at 6:30 p.m. Tipoff for the WVU game is yet to be announced.
The 2012-13 Concord Mountain Lions will be comprised of nine newcomers and seven returners, including All-WVIAC junior forward Andrea Bertrand.
Concord's regular season will get underway 1:00 p.m., Nov. 9 against Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Fairmont, W. Va. as part of the WVIAC-PSAC Challenge.
